Rifugio Seremus
Surrounded by the forests of the Tuscan Maremma, the Rifugio Seremus is an organic farm located at the top of a hill, a few kilometers from the sea. Its name comes from Latin, and means we are sowing.
The domain of 28 hectares, located at 250 meters above sea level, offers a breathtaking view of Val di Cornia.
The environment consists mainly of Mediterranean forest. The trails, ideal for hiking, horseback or mountain biking, are lined with green oaks, wild olive trees, strawberry trees, juniper trees and myrtle, vegetation always green and fragrant.
The Rifugio Seremus is a place of discovery of a rich and preserved biodiversity, ideal refuge for contemplators, dreamers and lovers of the wild environment.
In our certified organic farm we produce olive oil, honey and lavender essential oils.
We have also created - according to the principles of permaculture - an ecosystem in which hundreds of plant species coexist, mainly edible and structured in a stratified way: in permaculture it is called forest-garden (or edible forest). In addition to ancient and local fruit trees we have planted aromatic and medicinal herbs, perennial vegetables, shrubs and lianas for small fruits, nitrogen fixing bushes and flowers for pollinating insects. To complete the ecosystem we have added a pond now rich in aquatic plants and amphibious and flying inhabitants.

Rifugio Seremus is the story of a change of life.
We came here to live in the middle of a wild nature.
We came here to help keep this nature as it is.
The observation of the nature all around teaches us that this biodiversity is a richness to protect and that it should inspire us to design sustainable and harmonious systems.
By staying at Rifugio Seremus you can - if you wish - practice permaculture accompanying us occasionally in small maintenance and harvesting work.
You can also enjoy a natural swim in our organic pool, a 15 m long pool, in which the water is purified by the phyto-purification action of the plants, without any chemical substance.
We do not have a restaurant on site but we offer cheese boards and delicatessen from Tuscany as well as wines from neighboring producers, which you can complete with your picks from the vegetable garden. At your disposal are also a large barbecue for all your grills and a stone oven to cook your pizzas over a wood fire.
Finally, after dark, a stay at Seremus inevitably turns to the sky. Thanks to its slight altitude position and the absence of any light pollution, Seremus is a small refuge for astronomical enthusiasts.

The Maremma is the wild heart of Tuscany.
It is a land of great richness that offers a lot to its visitors : a wonderful historical heritage left by Etruscans and Romans, that can be seen in many sites nearby : Populonia, Massa Marittima, Volterra and the terms of Saturnia between other.
The beaches of the Gulf of Baratti and the port of Piombino - where it is possible to embark for the island of Elba - are 30 minutes from Seremus.
Florence, Siena, San Gimignano are a 2-hour drive away.

Cancelation policy :
Until 30 days before the beginning of the stay the deposit is refunded. Less than 30 days before the beginning of the stay the deposit is due.

How to find us :
Rifugio Seremus is located on the SR398 Wine route, which goes from Suvereto to Monterotondo Marittimo. At kilometer 17,400, exit the regional road following the Seremus sign, cross the Cornia river passing over a military bridge, follow the signs for another 4 kilometers and there you are.
